Set up PromptPay
Tellsell takes payment by PromptPay QR. For every order, the buyer sees a QR code made from your PromptPay ID with the order total already filled in. The money goes straight from the buyer’s bank account to yours: Tellsell never holds it. You then check that the money arrived in your banking app and confirm the order in LINE.
This page explains which PromptPay ID to use, where to enter it, and why it can only be changed on the account pages.
Which PromptPay ID to use
Section titled “Which PromptPay ID to use”A PromptPay ID is the number your bank links to your account for PromptPay transfers. Tellsell accepts these forms:
| PromptPay ID | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile phone number | 081-234-5678 | 10 digits starting with 0. Written as +66 81 234 5678 also works. |
| National ID or tax ID | 0105561234567 | 13 digits. A company’s tax ID, or an individual’s national ID number. |
| e-Wallet ID | 15 digits | Also accepted, if your wallet gives you one. |
Dashes and spaces don’t matter: 081-234-5678, 081 234 5678 and 0812345678 are the same ID.
Enter your PromptPay ID
Section titled “Enter your PromptPay ID”-
Log in at app.tellsell.app with the account you signed up with.
-
Open your shop’s payment settings.
-
Type your PromptPay ID (phone number, 13-digit ID or e-Wallet ID) and save.
-
Place a small test order in your own shop: add something to the cart, check out with your own name and phone number, and choose any way to receive it.
-
On the order page, scan the QR code with your banking app. Before you confirm the transfer, check the receiver’s name your bank shows. It must be your name or your company’s name.
-
You don’t need to pay. Cancel the test order in LINE: tap Orders, find the order and tap Cancel, then Yes, cancel.
Why it can’t be changed in LINE
Section titled “Why it can’t be changed in LINE”Your PromptPay ID decides where buyers’ money goes. Anyone who picks up your unlocked phone could send a message to the Tellsell bot, so a change there could quietly send your buyers’ payments to someone else’s account.
That is why payment settings live only on the account pages, behind your account login. The bot has no way to change them: if you type a new PromptPay number in LINE, nothing about your payments changes. The same goes for the QR image, delivery settings, staff, and your plan and billing.
When you tap Shop info in the LINE menu, the bot reminds you of this:
What buyers see
Section titled “What buyers see”After placing an order, the buyer lands on the order page. While the order is waiting for payment, it shows:
- the heading Pay with PromptPay and the amount, for example ฿385;
- the QR code, with the line “Scan the QR with your banking app. The amount, ฿385, is filled in.”;
- “Transfer note: order #1024”, so you can match the transfer to the order;
- “Please pay by …” with the time the order expires (24 hours after the order unless you changed it).
The QR code is a one-time PromptPay code for exactly this amount, which every Thai banking app can read. The buyer does not have to type anything. See What the buyer sees for the whole checkout.
When your shop can take orders
Section titled “When your shop can take orders”Checkout opens only when both of these are set:
- a valid PromptPay ID or a PromptPay QR image, and
- at least one way to receive orders: pickup or delivery.
Until then, the checkout page shows “This shop does not take online orders yet. Please contact the shop directly.” An ID that isn’t one of the forms in the table above counts as not set.
You confirm every payment
Section titled “You confirm every payment”Version 1 has no automatic payment check. A payment slip is only a screenshot, and fake slips are common, so always look in your banking app before you tap Paid.
When you tap Paid, the order page changes to Paid and the buyer gets an email, if they gave one.
